This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra was the epitome of Ford performance back in 1970 and remains a mean machine today. This Sportsroof/Fastback Cobra Torino is a “J-Code” meaning that it is powered by a 429 Super Cobra Jet V8 engine with a single 4 barrel carburetor and “Drag Pack” option which created 375 horsepower when it was ordered new. The Super Cobra Jet is hooked up to a smooth shifting C6 “Select Shift” Automatic Transmission, that just about anybody can easily drive. The engine compartment has been well-detailed and features a few performance upgrades including a Comp 900 Unilite Breakerless Ignition and a Promaster Coil. A nice throaty engine sound comes from the dual exhaust setup. From the Atlanta Factory, this Cobra was equipped with Power Front Disc Brakes which was a $65 option back in 1970. This Fastback Torino was also equipped with a 3.91 “Traction-Lok” rear end from the factory as well. This Torino Cobra sits on 4 BFGoodrich Raised Letter Radial T/A Tires that are wrapped around Magnum 500-style wheels, which gives this J-Code Torino a mean muscle car look. The paint, chrome, brightwork, and exterior trim on this Cobra is truly stunning. In 2017, this Cobra was refinished in its original Bright Yellow exterior color (D code) during a bare metal repaint and features a factory black “Tu-Tone” Ram-Air Shaker Hood with hood pins. The rear window on this Fastback Cobra also features aluminum Louvers which are in fantastic shape. The interior in this 70 Cobra has a real muscle car look. This Cobra was outfitted with high-back Black Vinyl Comfortweave Bucket Seats from the factory as well as a center console. The factory AM radio has been upgraded to a later model Ford entertainment system with a radio and cassette player. A column mounted VDO Tachometer as well as SS White Technologies Aftermarket Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, and Amp Gauges have been added for improved insight into the car’s performance. The dash, steering wheel, and door panels are in nice shape and all of which feature reminders that you’re in a Ford Cobra. If you’re looking for a mean, high-performance Ford muscle car, this 1970 Ford Torino Cobra is the car for you.
