When the E Type Jaguar was launched in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor show it attracted the attention of the whole world like no other car ever had ever done before. With its stunning sleek bodywork, ground breaking performance and impressive handling it astonished all. Here is your opportunity to enjoy an outstanding rendering of that legend today. This example is is fitted with the original 3.8 liter version of the well proven 266 horse 6 cylinder double overhead camshaft XK engine, and is driven through a four speed manual Moss gearbox. The Series 1 E-Type was equipped with covered headlights and small taillights mounted above slim rear bumpers with independent suspension all round. The rear suspension features twin coil spring and damper units on either side along with the differential and inboard rear brake assemblies, mounted in a cradle that was attached to the cars shell via insulated rubber bushings and stabilized by sturdy radius arms. Inside this fine car you will find Black leather seats and fully comprehensive instrumentation that is beautifully laid out on the sports black and aluminum dashboard, with an odometer reading of less than 53k miles. This is all complimented by a wood rim sports steering wheel to guide Jaguars responsive rack and pinion steering. The first road tests further helped to promote the E Type s virtues, with a top speed of 131mph being attained along with standing quarter mile and 0 – 60mph times of 15 seconds and 6.7 seconds respectively. The E type maintained Jaguars very respectable reputation in motor sport and as manufacturer of quality performance cars.
