As classic cars go, the late 50’s “Finned” cars have always been considered some of the most beautiful cars produced. This 1957 Buick Special Riviera is definitely in that class of wonderfully designed vehicles. There was a lot of design that went into the 1957 Special, from the fins to the swooping body lines, all the wonderful chrome, the rear bumper exit exhaust, the chrome port holes on the front fenders, the chrome hood ornament, and the scalloped front fenders. This particular Special Riviera has received an extensive restoration that is evident in the photo shoot, including the under body pictures. The red and white exterior is in excellent condition, as well as the exterior chrome and stainless trim. There are a couple pieces of trim that appear to be original and do show slight aging. The exterior of this beautiful Buick is enhanced by the wide white wall tires and chrome wire spoke wheels. At the time of restoration, the red and white cloth interior was upgraded to the correct color vinyl interior. The red and white vinyl interior is in excellent condition and shows little to not wear since restoration. The stereo has been upgraded to a later model AM/FM stereo and there is not sign that the dash had been modified for the upgrade. A couple other nice options on this Special Riviera include power steering, power brakes, and padded dash. Powering this Buick is the “nailhead” 364 CU In V8 that was rated from the factory with 250 HP and 380 lb-ft of torque. The optional Dynaflow automatic transmission provides a very smooth transfer of power to the rear end. Both the engine and transmission perform effortlessly and provide a very smooth driving experience. If you are looking for a wonderful example of the attractive 50’s style that surrounds a well engineered vehicle from that era, you don’t need to look any further. This wonderful Buick Special is turn key and ready to enjoy or show.
