This 1940 Ford Deluxe convertible has received a very detailed restoration and is overall in excellent condition. Looking under the hood, you will find the Ford 221 Cu In flathead V8 that is backed by the 3 speed manual transmission that Ford dubbed “finger-tip shift”. You will also start to see some of the careful attention to detail that was put into the restoration. Some of those details are the correct wires with the fabric coverings, the Ford script positive battery cable end, Ford script radiator hoses, factory style stickers, and the period style spark plug wires. In 1940, Ford made a couple upgrades to the Deluxe line that increased the drivability and reliability, which included a front torsion bar, larger drum brakes, and a larger 6 volt generator. This particular 1940 Deluxe Ford runs and drives very well, and just as it should. The Lyon Blue exterior is in excellent condition and shows very well. The exterior chrome and stainless is also in excellent condition. Just a couple of the highlights on the exterior include the chrome tear drop headlights, sought after Deluxe front grille, Ford script wide white wall tires, factory style fog lights, Ford Deluxe emblems, Ford locking gas cap, front and rear bumper guards, Deluxe wheel rings and fender skirts. The factory vacuum assisted power convertible top and rear glass is in very good condition. The Monaida Maroon leather interior is in very good condition. A couple of other nice options include the factory Am radio with antenna and glove box cover clock. Driving this great 1940 Ford Deluxe is like stepping back in time and does force you to slow down and enjoy the ride. Top up or top down, this Ford is a pleasure to drive and will be a crowd favorite, or a great addition or start to your collection.
