Part of a small collection of rare BMWs, this 328 has a particularly intriguing history. Discovered as a wreck in the late 1960s, it was accompanied by Czechoslovakian title documents, with records tracing back to 4 November 1970 when the car was registered in the United States. The documentation details a succession of owners throughout the communist era up to the present day, complete with various official stamps.
Adding to its appeal, the car is accompanied by a fascinating set of period photographs showing it as found, including the original factory bodywork in place prior to restoration, as well as the seats and seat frames.
Under current ownership, the car has been meticulously restored and finished in metallic silver with a burgundy leather interior, both presented in outstanding condition. The original engine block has been retained, now fitted with a later twin-carburetor head for improved performance.
Since completion of the restoration, the car has remained largely unused, forming part of a carefully maintained private collection.
