Sensational VW Hebmüller Cabriolet First registered in 1949 to a Hamburg-based art gallery owner. In 1953, a doctor from Hamburg acquired the car; he used it extensively, regularly driving long distances—including trips as far afield as southern Spain. At least one replacement engine and rear axle were installed during this period. The original VW warranty cards for these components are included in the documentation.

In 1960, the doctor gifted the Cabriolet to his sister, who was living in German South West Africa. She kept the car for over 30 years! In a letter, she recounts her memories of the vehicle. Initially, she drove the VW quite frequently, as evidenced by various maintenance invoices dating back to the 1960s. In 1974, she had yet another replacement engine installed. Later on, however, she came to consider the Hebmüller too precious to be driven as a daily commuter. For that purpose, she owned a second Beetle of a more recent vintage.
