We are pleased to offer this 1979 International Scout II, a nicely restored example finished in satin black with a contrasting matte black rallye stripe. Excellent paint quality over a straight body with among the best door fitment and hood gaps we’ve seen on a Scout. Outfitted with GRC front and rear bumpers, SSII grille and BF Goodrich 33×12.50 mud terrains on Mickey Thompson 17-inch wheels. Solid floors, rockers and cab supports with no known rust issues. The interior has been restored to a very nice standard with early Scout II low-back bucket seats (rear bench) finished in an attractive red, grey and black plaid with matching door panels. Instrument and interior lights, plus four overhead courtesy lights integrated into the custom headliner, are all LED. New carpet with dynamat from front to rear which dramatically reduces road noise. Modern AM/FM stereo with USB, aux input and bluetooth wired to four speakers and a subwoofer — which sounds great (you can actually hear the stereo thanks to all of the sound deadening in the floors). From the factory, Scouts only came with manual windows (and the regulators can get stiff with age, making them difficult to roll up and down). This truck has been retrofitted with power windows, and they work well (switches are on the front of the center console). Under the hood is a 345 cubic inch V8 mated to a TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission. Upgrades include a new aluminum radiator, four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor and electronic ignition. All new belts, hoses, tune-up items and fluids. Thanks to a fairly quiet exhaust and the dynamat in the floors, you can actually hear the throaty intake sound of the four-barrel when the secondaries open up. Runs well and makes good power. Thanks to a cut-and-turned front axle to improve front driveshaft angle and steering geometry, plus a heim joint steering linkage, this truck drives better than most with a similar lift and tire setup.
